A classic Game Boy Advance title that we’ve been waiting for is coming to Nintendo Switch for free very soon.

The first Nintendo console arrived in 1983, and after over four decades of bringing us video game goodness in the comfort of our own homes, there are tons of classic delights to choose from in the Nintendo repertoire, such as the retro game that’s coming to Nintendo Switch Online next week.

Check out the Super Mario Bros. Movie trailer below!

The retro game in question is Wario Land 4 which was originally released on the handheld Game Boy Advance in 2001.

Taking inspiration from the classic Super Mario formula, Wario finds himself on the hunt to discover four treasures that will unlock a mystical pyramid so that he can save Princess Shokora from the Golden Diva.

It’s not as easy as we’d like it to be playing classic Nintendo games today, with many collectors having to spend a small fortune on buying retro consoles with the Japanese tech giant seemingly reluctant to sell its vast library of titles via emulation on its digital eShop platform.

That being said, Nintendo does release some classic titles in small quantities through its Switch Online subscription service. For example, the basic NSO service grants you access to NES, SNES and original Game Boy titles.

Whereas the upper + Expansion Pack tier grants additional GBA, N64 and SEGA Mega Drive games. What’s more, you even get expansions for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Splatoon 2.

As confirmed across the Nintendo social media channels, Wario Land 4 will be coming to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack on Friday, 14 February 2025.

Hopefully, one day Nintendo will release all those classic Pokémon games we’ve all been patiently waiting for.
