Now we’ve all seen the Nintendo Switch 2, we’ve still got plenty of questions, mostly surrounding the games we’ll be playing on the console.

If you look at the image I’ve used for this article, you’ll notice a great deal of manifesting on my part by using a screenshot of Wind Waker, that’s because there’s a rumoured remaster coming for The Legend of Zelda.

Nintendo could be gearing up to bring old Zelda titles back for Nintendo Switch 2

Highlighted on Twitter, the online retailer NewEgg updated their Nintendo eShop gift card description to include, “New 3D Mario, New Mario Kart, A Legend of Zelda Remake/Remaster.”

Of course, we already know about Mario Kart 9, and we’re all assuming a new 3D Mario game is waiting in the wings.

But that mention of a “Zelda Remake/Remaster” has us all intrigued.

Usually a retailer can take an educated guess at what’s to come on a new console, especially with Nintendo, who always make new games for their legacy characters.

NewEgg perhaps has more information, they could just be making a guess to hype up sales of their gift cards.

Suggesting a remake or a remaster is on the way is leading many to think that we could see some classic Zelda titles getting spruced up for a return appearance.

I’m holding out hope for Wind Waker getting a remaster, but it’s highly likely that Breath of the Wild will end up with a ‘deluxe’ edition, maybe with a 60fps option.

With the industry happy to remaster games from the previous generation, or even this one (Sony) Nintendo could even polish up Tears of the Kingdom for another go around.

There are plenty of Zelda titles that could get a shiny new version, especially as it’s hard to easily acquire older Nintendo consoles and games for reasonable prices nowadays.

We’re going to have to wait until the Nintendo Direct in April for more news.
