Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order date leaks early, mark your calendars

One retailer just outright leaked the Nintendo Switch 2's pre-order date

Thanks to a now-deleted blog post from one of the biggest online retailers in the world, we now know exactly when the Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders are going live– and they’re going live very, very soon.

As spotted by IGN’s Robert Anderson, Best Buy Canada accidentally revealed last night that pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 will be available on April 2 next month.

The deleted blog post previously stated that “Pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 will open on April 2nd at Best Buy Canada”, before it was scrubbed from the site entirely.

The blog post also stated something else that’s ever so slightly suspicious: “Here’s everything you need to know about the Nintendo Direct and how to pre-order the Nintendo Switch 2 from Best Buy Canada.”

April 2 also happens to be the same day as the long-awaited Nintendo Direct presentation that Nintendo has promised will solely focus on the Nintendo Switch 2.

In context, it seems a bit weird for Best Buy Canada to specifically mention the Nintendo Direct in relation to the Nintendo Switch 2’s pre-order date if the two are not in some way related.

Considering the presentation is set to begin at 2 pm GMT, it’s no stretch of the imagination to assume that pre-orders will go live once the Nintendo Direct ends.

This pre-order date also lines up with the theory that the Nintendo Switch 2 will be on store shelves by May 15, as this would give Nintendo roughly six weeks to fulfil pre-orders and make sure enough units are available to snag at launch.

Either way, this hardly leaves much time to save up for a pre-order if you haven’t already. Assumedly that’s why Nintendo decided to hold the presentation on April 2, so everyone’s paycheques land around the same time the pre-orders go live.

April 1 would have been better of course, but I assume Nintendo don’t want people to think the pre-orders going live is some kind of April Fools Day joke.
