Ahead of the official announcement for the Nintendo Switch 2, it seems as though somebody has got there first after images of the new model leak online.

It has been seven years since the launch of the Nintendo Switch and thanks to Nintendo’s latest handheld console, we have been able to enjoy some banger games such as Animal Crossing: New Horizons and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild to name a few.

Check out the trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild below!

However, all good things come to an end and the Nintendo Switch is set to be replaced by, well, the Nintendo Switch 2 which is rumoured to be called “Switch 2”.

Although Nintendo has yet to officially announce its next handheld, it seems it will have to speed up plans as multiple images of the Switch 2 were leaked online earlier today.

This comes courtesy of a Chinese website with the post and images being shared over on r/GamingLeaksAndRumours.

The post reads: “Photos of Switch 2 factory prototypes have leaked on a Chinese website.”

The Reddit post then translates some of the information that was leaked.

“Translation: "switch second generation model stp" "switch second generation switch2 model stp: magnetic slide rail, 8-inch large screen, length 270 width 115 thickness 14, two typec interfaces".

However, what is perhaps the most exciting bit is the leaked images which consist of twelve angles of the brand-new handheld.

It is perhaps no surprise that it looks pretty identical to the original Nintendo Switch but we can expect it to be a lot more powerful.

This comes especially after the post was recently updated with the Switch 2’s specs which were also leaked on the Chinese website.

Despite its lack of originality, fans are still impressed and took to the comments to share their thoughts.

“Thank god it is just a newer, bigger and better Switch without silly shenanigans,” one read.

Another said: “Definitely feels very “Switch 2” if the leaks are true. The overall design is very similar to the Switch, basically an upgraded version of it.”

Now we just have to wait until Nintendo makes the official announcement but there is no denying that fans are eager for the next iteration of the Switch.
