Nintendo Switch 2 eShop has already delisted a highly-anticipated title

Weirdly, Nintendo wasn't the one who requested this

A brand new Nintendo Switch title was just uploaded to and then subsequently delisted from the Nintendo Switch 2 eShop store in the space of a week– but it seems that Nintendo weren’t the ones to request its removal.

Thank you in advance to Video Game Chronicle’s Chris Scullion for the original report!

On 16 June earlier this month, Limited Run Games released GEX Trilogy – a remastered release of the original three GEX titles.

For the most part, the game seems to be running fine on most systems. The PC version seems to have a few issues here and there, but by the sounds of things, the PlayStation 5, Xbox and Nintendo Switch versions of GEX Trilogy are, at the very least, playable.

Unfortunately, the Nintendo Switch 2 version isn’t. Well, it wasn’t, and then it was… but technically still isn’t. Probably best I explain.

When GEX Trilogy dropped on the Nintendo Switch, for some reason, those who tried to boot the game on Nintendo Switch 2 (as the game is backwards compatible) were met with a blank screen.

Supposedly this is due to some kind of issue with Limited Run Games’ Carbon Engine, which appears to be running into some kind of problem with the Nintendo Switch 2’s backwards compatibility.

To counter this issue, Limited Run Games requested that GEX Trilogy be removed from the Nintendo Switch eShop until they could release a patch that rectified thing.

Well, they’ve finally done so… except the game still isn’t back on the Nintendo Switch eShop.

By the sounds of things, the new patch for GEX Trilogy has fixed the issue that Nintendo Switch 2 owners were running into, so assumedly it not reappearing on the eShop is due to Nintendo being a little slow on the uptake.

At this rate however, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s not back until the start of next week. Terrible news for all 20 GEX fans, I’m sure.
