New Nintendo Switch 2 rumours are making the internet rounds but these latest reports might be the most surprising yet.

At this point, before the official announcement of the PlayStation 5 Pro, the existence of the Nintendo Switch 2 being in development is one of the worst-kept secrets in the video game industry. However, Nintendo has yet to make an official announcement but let’s be honest, we all know that it's on the way.

Depending on what you choose to believe, previous Nintendo Switch 2 rumours have disappointed fans while others have praised its potential price. Yet, the most recent rumour may come as a surprise with it reportedly being inspired by another popular Nintendo console.

As shared in a Reddit post (via Taiwan Economic Daily), it’s been reported that the Nintendo Switch 2 will have a dual screen, perhaps similar to the 3DS. It’s also claimed that it will have an increased battery life over its predecessor, implement “AI” features and will retail at $400.

The rumoured dual screen of the Nintendo Switch 2 will also likely result in a larger console and if the $400 price estimate is true, it will make it roughly 30% more expensive than the original Switch. It’s also claimed that despite the cost increase, Nintendo isn't expected to profit from the console, but revenue will be made from additional software and hardware sales.

What’s more, it’s also claimed that Nintendo delayed the announcement of the Switch 2 following the official reveal of the PlayStation 5 Pro.

Gamers on Reddit are eager for Nintendo to put us all out of our misery with comments such as “Nintendo, I’m begging you, just announce the darn thing” from GoldenTriforceLink being the voice of the general vibe on the forum.

We’ll of course keep you posted when Nintendo decides to make an official announcement. Hopefully, that announcement will be made by the end of this year.

In the meantime, we can look forward to the release of The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom this month arriving on 26 September.
