Marvel fans divided over our new Luke Cage

Power Man returns

Luke Cage is back with a bold new design that unfortunately hasn’t gone down well with the majority of fans.

If you’ve been keeping up with the latest Marvel comics you’ll know the series is currently in the middle of its rebooted Ultimates universe, which is thankfully much better than the last attempt of making more down-to-Earth heroes…

In other news the next MCU film will be Captain America: New World Order, the trailer of which you can see below

The new Ultimates storyline follows a new universe where The Maker, a variant of Reed Richards, has created a reality where only certain heroes are allowed to exist, specifically ones he can control.

Of course that doesn’t work out as Iron-Man, Captain America, Spider-Man and more are rising up to fight for what’s right, and now they’ll be joined by Luke Cage.

The unbreakable, impenetrable hero will return with a new look and new suit in ULTIMATES #9, which launches next year in February.

He looks pretty good, but it’s unknown if he’ll be joined by any other street-level heroes like Iron Fist.

Some fans were pleased to see the street-level hero return, like one said they'd “just started new Ultimates can't wait to get to Luke” and another who added “Holy Moly!” to the character's new design.

The design hasn’t been a hit with everyone though, as many have criticised some of the choices made on his new look, especially his hair.

“The cut is atrocious” said one fan, with another adding that the comic cover used makes it look like he just broke “through his barber shop.”

As for MCU appearances, Luke Cage is yet to make the jump to the big-screen. That said, with the Netflix version of Daredevil now canon to the MCU it stands to reason Luke Cage is out there too, so perhaps we’ll see him make a cameo in Daredevil: Born Again.
