Grand Theft Auto V looks better than ever, with a new mod that introduces 8K resolutions and ray-tracing for some outstanding visuals.

Since its release all the way back in 2015, Grand Theft Auto V has remained one of the most popular games of all time, and is still selling new copies even today. Recently, Rockstar Games’ critically-acclaimed title even surpassed 130 million total sales.

Aside from several post-launch content updates, mainly for GTA Online, the game has been kept alive by the modding community, who frequently release new mods adding new features, in-game items and changes to the game’s world. Examples range from the distasteful addition of the OceanGate submarine, which recently made headlines for the tragic deaths of five lives, and visual/performance mods overhaul the game.

The latter is the focus of today’s conversation, as a showcase video from Digital Dreams combines the 8K resolution with ReShade ray tracing, the QuantV 3D clouds, and the GTAV Real mod into one phenomenal overhaul, that makes GTA V look the best it’s ever been. Los Santos looks hyper realistic, making car chases and general mayhem feel closer to the real world.

While you’ll likely need a monstrous PC to run the game plus all of its mods, it definitely seems like the definitive way to play, especially as you cruise down the highway under the setting sun, which reflects beautifully off your supercar.

Fans are surely hoping Grand Theft Auto VI looks just as good, if not better, especially since it’ll be taking full advantage of the Xbox Series X, PS5 and high-end PCs. New information from hackers suggests the game’s development has cost Rockstar Games $2 billion, so you’d hope a decent amount of that cash went into the graphics department.

Grand Theft Auto V is available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.
