A Witcher fan has gotten his dad obsessed with The Witcher 3, and it’s remarkably wholesome.

There’s no greater feeling than recommending someone a game you love only for them to love it too. It can strengthen relationships, give you more to talk about, and a sense of pride that you’ve sent someone on a journey they’ll never forget.

Stop the press, the GTA VI trailer has dropped and is available to watch now!

That was the story of one Witcher fan, who persuaded their dad to give The Witcher 3 a go, prompting a full-on obsession and love for the series and its characters.

The story begins with the Reddit user Great_Basil5560 who created a post titled “I got my 64-year-old dad into the Witcher.” What followed was a lovely story, and text exchange, between a father and son bonding over arguably one the greatest video games of all time.

Great_Basil5560 said they’d convinced their dad to play the CD Projekt Red game, “about a year ago,” and that a year later he’s on his third playthrough of the game. They went on to say “It makes me so happy that he enjoys the game as much as I do and that he still gets such great enjoyment out of the game even now. It’s really so great to ramble on about Geralt with him.”

They even shared a wholesome text exchange that began with the user’s dad saying they’re on up to the battle of Kaer Morhen mission, regarded as one of the best quests in the game. They went on to say “Battle about to go down. Saved it because I need to be prepared and have the time. Won’t be able to stop!!! Tomorrow I kick the Wild Hunt’s ass!”

His proud son responded with “Wooooo!!! Wow look at you go.”

Fans were moved by the father-and-son bonding experience, even recommending a few strategies and things to know before going into the final battle, and recommending the books the games were adapted from.

Hopefully the pair share a similar wholesome experience when The Witcher 4 eventually release, whenever that may be.
