Oh bother, a Winnie-The-Pooh cosmic horror game is in development

Winnie-The-Pooh is now the star of his own PC survival-horror game on Steam...Oh bother

Since entering the public domain in 2022, Winnie-The-Pooh has been featured in a number of fan-driven projects, with the latest being a PC survival-horror game…Oh bother.

Of course, Winnie-The-Pooh-inspired horror isn’t new since, alarmingly, the loveable honey-obsessed bear has been used for several twisted adaptations, most notably the 2023 film, Winnie-The-Pooh: Blood and Honey.

The indie-horror film saw Christopher Robin return to the Hundred-Acre Woods after many years had passed, only to find his once beloved friends, Pooh and Piglet, enraged, psychotic and out for blood. Chaos then ensues, in a surprisingly comedic and silly gore-fest that let audiences see the characters from a completely different perspective.

This horror game, however, called Hundred-Acre Wood on Steam, will let fans experience the terror of being hunted by these once adorable childhood icons. The goal of the game is to explore and survive the once peaceful woods, and rescue Christopher Robin, whilst evading, and possibly dispatching, its famous residents, like Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, and so on.

Looking past the horrifying corruption of the Winnie-The-Pooh world, the game looks quite impressive. Sporting some open-world exploration, first-person shooting, as well as dark and gloomy locations that’ll likely hide the petrifying monsters you’ll encounter.

The game can currently be added to your Steam wishlist, with no specific release date as of yet. Rest assured though, you’ll likely be able to traverse the warped woods very soon.

Since 2022, no company owns the rights to Winnie-The-Pooh and its characters. They were previously owned by Disney, whose version of the characters is still protected by their copyright, but now anyone can use the names and designs of the characters in any way they like.

Why people decided that they’d turn the bear into a lunatic and murderer is anyone’s guess, though we will say it's been interesting to see what creative liberties creators have taken with the character. Personally, I think I’ll stick to the Disney adaptation.
