The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered has just received a free fan-made expansion that massively improves one of the game’s best player homes.

Battlehorn Castle is one of the best player homes in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion for a myriad of reasons. It’s absolutely massive, has so many different functions, and also features an interesting side quest associated with it.

However, one fan has created a mod which dramatically improves the castle with some much-needed upgrades, so it can feel like a true fortress of solitude for the player.

Titled Battlehorn Castle Expansion by Ianjoseph1986, the mod adds several new features to the castle which helps to expand it into something far greater than what appears in the base game.

Oblivion's Battlehorn Castle Is Massively Expanded With This New Mod

To start with, the castle has a huge gate with walls that go around the whole castle, to make it feel more like a fortress.

There are also three large towers here to give the castle a sense of security, one being a bathhouse, another being a Mages Guild Tower, and the third being a Fighters Guild tower.

The latter two towers can be accessed via high bridges, which are connected to portals in the main castle chamber.

Inside, the castle also has two fully furnished farmhouses, plus a third one which is half-furnished for you to finish off by yourself. There’s also a stable with five horses for you to use.

There are two new trainers too to help you improve your combat skills, with one located in the outside courtyard while another resides in the Fighters Guild tower.

Battlehorn Castle Expansion also features a forge near the castle entrance, allowing you to improve your weapons and armour, as well as a few vendors to sell you new armaments.

In total, it’s eight new NPCs added to the castle, plus five horses.

In addition, there are new save chests dotted around to store your items, without worry that your items may go wandering off.

Altogether, it's an expansion which should suit a variety of different playstyles. Whether you're a warrior, a thief, or a mage, there are plenty of reasons to check the mod out.

If you’d like to download the new Battlehorn Castle Expansion, you can do so by grabbing it from Nexus Mods. Beware that this mod only works for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, and not the original version.
