Netflix hires Arnold Schwarzenegger as 'Chief Action Officer’

Arnold Schwarzenegger is Netflix's new chief action officer, because no one loves action as much as him.

Netflix has officially announced that it’s hired none other than Arnold Schwarzenegger as its new 'chief action officer', and honestly? There’s no man better for the job.

As IGN reports, Netflix announced the news with an amusing promotional video starring the man himself, in which he announces: “No one loves action as much as I do. That’s why I've accepted the big new job as Netflix's chief action officer.” That’s after he pulls up outside Netflix HQ in a huge tank and destroys someone’s car, so you know he means business.

Take a look at the teaser trailer for the upcoming open-world Terminator game below.

“Whether you want to catch Schwarzenegger's first-ever television role in FUBAR, Chris Hemsworth’s highly anticipated return in Extraction 2, a new season of The Witcher with Henry Cavill or Gal Gadot as an intrepid heroine in Heart of Stone, Arnold is working around the clock to bring you the most explosive series and films on Earth,” Netflix wrote in a press release. “Get ready for a hard-hitting roller coaster ride as Netflix cranks its action slate into the next gear.”

Schwarzenegger, of course, is best known for his roles in the Terminator movies, and most recently starred in the 2019 iteration, Terminator: Dark Fate. He’s also appeared in various other things though, including the 1990 science-fiction action film Total Recall, and 1987’s Predator. Needless to say, he knows his way around a good action film.

So, what will Schwarzenegger’s new role as chief action officer actually entail? That’s a great question which I wish I had a better answer to - the announcement video jokes that he’ll be in charge of making the explosions in different movies and shows bigger. While I doubt that’s actually what he'll be doing, I really, really want to believe it.
