'Multiversus' Removes All Mention Of Several Fan-Favorite Characters

Lines that referred to certain characters have been removed, new datamining discovers.

The bonkers fighter Multiversus has been intriguing gamers for a while. Not only is it an homage to all things Warner Bros., but it seems to be bringing together the most eclectic group of fighters imaginable. If you thought Solid Snake fighting Mario was weird in Nintendo's Smash franchise, imagine LeBron James brawling with Scooby Doo's Shaggy.

The number of fighters may be getting shorter, though. Multiversus' character list has become publicly known, primarily, through datamined leaks. One such dataminer is Reddit userJPMB5555, whose recent discovery is concerning for fans of Game of Thrones, Lord of the Rings, Stranger Things, and Craig of the Creek (it's still odd putting those three in the same sentence).

Check out the first reveal of Multiversus, from late last year.

In a reddit post, JPMB5555 published their latest datamine discovery. We should explain that these miners find out about hidden characters by delving into files that contain the dialogue. For example; in an earlier piece of dialogue, The Iron Giant used the words "Eleven friend," which seemed to hint at Eleven from Stranger Things. At the moment, however, the references to Gandalf, Eleven, and Craig seem to have been removed. See the full post below.

While this may be disheartening for fans hoping to see these three, it's worth remembering that this isn't by any means an official announcement. And even if these characters aren't available in the latest patch, there's still a chance they could be joining later on. Despite calling these characters' removal a "bloodbath", JPMB5555 reminds us that these characters may just be temporarily shelved, not permanently cut.

There is some good news from their mine, however. DC Amazonian hero Nubia looks to be her own character, as opposed to a skin for Wonder Woman. We just might have to wait a bit longer for other favorites.
