Mass Effect players can finally save Ashley and Kaidan

The hardest part about playing RPGs is knowing that your choices can make drastic changes to how the game plays out.

I cannot count the amount of times that my choices have led to the death of a beloved character or worse, having them hate me throughout the rest of the game.

Well, that was definitely the case during Mass Effect as, after just a few hours, players were presented with a huge decision: save Ashley Williams or save Kaidan Alenko.

In the BioWare RPG, Ashley and Kaidan are two human crew members who team up with Shepherd throughout the story of Mass Effect.

However, it will be up to you to decide which one will die when things take a turn for the worse in the very first game. Not only will you lose one crew mate who would have otherwise gone on to have their own storyline and possible romance, but you will also feel the weight of your decision throughout the rest of the trilogy.

However, thanks to Vegz over on Nexus Mods, you will now be able to save both Ashley and Kaidan on Virmire.

The Virmire Saviour Mod restores cut audio and adds new content to the Virmire mission in order to allow the player to save both crew members.

Available for the Mass Effect Legendary Edition, players who use this mod will be able to keep the pair alive and go onto explore their individual storylines and changes have even been made to make this choice lore accurate in future instalments.

Since the mod was first uploaded back in 2022, it has gone on to reach over 17,000 downloads so it is safe to say that Mass Effect fans are eager to save both Ashley and Kaidan by whatever means necessary.
