Mass Effect players are horrified to learn that a fan had no idea about a weapon they’ve ignored for years.

Mass Effect was first released in 2007 and since that time, it benefited from two direct sequels which cemented the series as an all-time great for developer BioWare. We also got Mass Effect Andromeda in 2017 which suffered a very rocky launch but the game is in a much better state now.

However, in 2021, the original trilogy received remasters and was bundled together with all previously released DLC in Mass Effect Legendary Edition. Seriously, if you’ve never played this series, I highly recommend picking that collection up.

Now, fans eagerly await the arrival of Mass Effect 5 but following a negative reception from some sections of the gaming community towards Dragon Age: The Veilguard, I fear that the next Mass Effect game may already be facing an uphill battle to prove itself.

For some, while not the most technically advanced entry in the series, it’s often nice to go back to the 2007 game that started it all. Depending on the difficulty setting, Mass Effect can be quite a challenging game, which is all part of the fun.

One player has been struggling far more than they ever should have. When exploring barren planets, players will traverse on the six-wheeled M35 Mako land vehicle. To be honest, I think most would agree that this is not the most exciting aspect of Mass Effect.

That said, it can be fun blasting enemies with the mounted machine gun and rocket launcher. It particularly comes in handy when mowing down those pesky Geth.

Yet, to the shock of many Reddit users, AlamoBobcat has been struggling to kill Geth Colossi with the M35 Mako, because, after all these years, they never knew it had a rocket launcher.

“Has anyone found a different strategy for taking down Geth Colossus (Colossi), because right now this is all I’ve got?” they asked.

“My brother, there is a heavy cannon on the mako. Please use it. Or, ram it at speed with a boost on impact. It will send them over yonder cliff,” suggested RascalxRaccoon.

“THE MAKO HAS A CANNON?” exclaimed AlamoBobcat in response. “I've played the trilogy at least 10 times. Played ME1 at least 12 times. How have I never realised this? I'm so upset.”

Mass Effect Legendary Edition is out now on PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
