A trailer for a new “Mass Effect inspired RPG” has stunned fans after its initial reveal.
Although it might be a while until we hear about a new Mass Effect, it’s good to know its influence lives on.
I’m sure we all remember the highs of those final battle sequences at the end of Mass Effect 3, and it’d be great to experience that again in a new game. For now, we wait.

Owlcat Games has revealed a new 3rd-person RPG called The Expanse: Osiris Reborn. It’s set in the same world as The Expanse novels and TV series.
“In The Expanse: Osiris Reborn, a story-driven sci-fi Action RPG, you play as a Pinkwater Security mercenary whose brief shore leave on the asteroid Eros spirals out of control,” the game description on Steam reads.
“Trapped in a deadly lockdown and drawn into a solar system-wide conspiracy far beyond your control, you’ll have to adapt, survive, taking command of the most advanced ship in the whole of the solar system.”
The game is being compared to Mass Effect in some spaces, and from what we’ve seen so far that sounds about right.

Even its developer, Owlcat Games, has said it was inspired by BioWare’s RPG series.
“Really hoping this is as good as Mass Effect was,” writes one comment on the RPG Gamers Reddit page.
“Did not expect to see this kind of gaming coming from Owlcat,” another commenter writes. “I loved The Expanse, both the show and the books. And Mass Effect hasn't been the same, and I don't trust new BioWare. This is the game for me.”
“Gameplay wise Mass Effect has a lot of faults,” writes another comment. “The story and choices is where it shines. If Owlcat can deliver serviceable and fun gameplay but a compelling story they'll have succeeded.”

The Expanse: Osiris Reborn will be a departure from Owlcat Games’ usual style. Its past games like Pathfinder Kingmaker and Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader. This will be the first RPG from the developer that isn’t an isometric top-down game.
