If the wait for Mass Effect 5 is too agonising, then you’ll want to check out this other upcoming sci-fi RPG called Exodus.

The next Mass Effect was revealed at The Game Awards in 2021 with a teaser trailer that confirmed the return of the popular character Liara T’Soni and what looked to be surviving members of the N7 crew in the far distance.

Check out the Exodus gameplay teaser trailer below!

Sadly at this time, we know very little about the next Mass Effect, other than it features Liara T’Soni, some other members of the original crew as well as a mysterious character. We don’t know officially when it will be released or what platforms it will be available on.

The best we can hope for right now is that it’s BioWare’s next major game to be released following Dragon Age: The Veilguard. So while we wait for the next Mass Effect, hopefully, the upcoming sci-fi game Exodus should be more than enough to keep us busy (assuming it releases first).

Exodus was announced during The Game Awards 2023 and has Hollywood star Matthew McConaughey in the leading role. Much like the Mass Effect series, the choices that you make in Exodus will help shape your story with a butterfly effect that can span over decades in-game.

“Exodus introduces an innovative new sci-fi world that forces players to face the consequences of their choices over time,” said James Ohlen, developer and co-founder of Archetype Entertainment. “We introduce the player, as the Traveler, to an original sci-fi universe, a world created with an incredible level of detail in collaboration with award-winning sci-fi authors.”

This week, the first gameplay tease for Exodus was released and despite only lasting just over 30 seconds, it did not disappoint. However, if you want to see more of Exodus, then fear not.

You can check out the full gameplay reveal via a recent livestream on CohhCarnage’s Twitch channel who was joined by James Ohlen and fellow co-founder of Archetype Entertainment, Chad Robertson as well as filmmaker, Tim Miller.

At the time of writing, there is currently no release date for Exodus, but it might be wise to assume that it will be released sometime between 2026 and 2027.
