The Lord Of The Rings: Adventure To Mount Doom is a gorgeous new tabletop RPG that you can co-op with friends.

If you’re a fan of The Lord of the Rings and you’re craving an immersive, detailed RPG experience, you’re definitely going to want to check out the new tabletop game Adventure To Mount Doom.

Tabletop gaming has seen a major resurgence in popularity in recent years. In part, I think this is down to lockdown rekindling our love for long-forgotten hobbies. Tabletop gaming has also found its way into the mainstream though. Stranger Things, a mass appeal show, centres much of its story around Dungeons and Dragons. Just take a look at how shows like Critical Role have also thrived in recent years. It’s lovely to see tabletop RPGs succeeding because they can be so much fun, and The Lord of the Rings: Adventure To Mount Doom is a new offering that I think plenty of us will be keen to check out.

The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria was recently delayed on the PS5.

Created by Kosmos Games, The Lord of the Rings: Adventure to Mount Doom focuses on Frodo as he begins his perilous journey to Mount Doom. The synopsis reads, “Luckily, his loyal friends protect him on his way. With a clever choice of dice, players work together to move the figures across the gameboard. Will Frodo reach Mount Doom? In this cooperative fantasy board game, players will win, or lose, together.”

The story-based game rewards co-op play, and uses dice-rolling mechanics to move figures across the board. Your goal: destroying the One Ring. “Black dice and encounter cards add threats and suspense to the game, requiring players to be strategic as they make decisions together,” Kosmos Games adds.

All in all, it sounds like it would make for a great couple of hours of fun with friends. The game is on sale now and considering you can nab it for less than £30, I’d say it’s the perfect stocking filler for Christmas.
