It’s a brand new day at Star Wars Celebration which means we're being gifted with a brand new batch of hugely exciting news.

Previously, Lucasfilm kicked things off by dropping the first look at Star Wars: Andor before it premieres this summer, and we now know when The Mandalorian’s third season will debut. Respawn Entertainment released the first trailer for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, which looks incredible and appears to prove a major connection to the Obi-Wan Kenobi TV series. If you thought things couldn’t get better, a major fan-favourite Star Wars actor is now set to return to the franchise.

If you haven’t yet seen it (or you just want to watch it for the hundredth time to scan for every detail), the trailer for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is below.

That’s right. Liam Neeson is officially returning to the Star Wars franchise, reprising his iconic role of Qui-Gon Jinn. Neeson will appear in the newly announced Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi. The upcoming six-episode animated anthology series will take a deep dive into the lives of six Jedi featured in the prequel era, including Qui-Gon and Ahsoka.

It may only be a voiceover-only return for now but after years of hoping that we’d see Qui-Gon once more, this is welcomed news. It follows comments that Neeson made earlier this year in regards to returning to the franchise. He said, “If it was a film. Yeah, I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to TV, I must admit. I just like the big screen,” and here is returning to TV. Was the actor simply trying to throw us off the scent?

Fans in attendance at Star Wars Celebration also spotted Mace Windu’s purple Lightsaber in the concept art for Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi, although Windu’s name wasn’t mentioned otherwise. A possible easter egg tease? Maybe we’ll see Samuel L Jackson return as well.
