'Bully 2' Still In Development Despite 'GTA 6' Announcement, Says Insider

According to a prominent industry insider, a sequel to the 2006 cult classic is still on the way, despite the announcement of GTA VI.

How long has it been that fans have been clamouring for a sequel to Bully? Honestly, probably about as long as the first game has been out, which will be 16 years this October, if you can believe it. That game would be doing its GCSEs by now if it was sentient.

Despite so many years having passed since that original release, fans haven’t exactly been throwing out speculation from nowhere. A few years ago now, it was revealed that a sequel may have actually been happening back in 2010, but was scrapped after the release of Red Dead Redemption. More recently, prominent leaker Tom Henderson claimed that Bully 2 was meant to be announced during The Game Awards last December, but something went wrong.

While you're here, be sure to check out some of our favourite GTA V wins and fails below.

Now, since Rockstar’s announcement of GTA VI’s development, Bully fans have been left wondering if anything was ever happening at all: “Care to explain @_Tom_Henderson_? Were you trolling us this whole time or did you in fact have information about Bully 2?” tweeted @Bully2Source. “Looks like GTA VI is Rockstar’s next focus point, so I’d love to know more about what you meant.”

The leaker, however, stands by his original claims: “Sorry - Where did today’s announcement say that it's Rockstar's next focus point? They said GTA VI is in development. I still stand by that there's something going on with the Bully series,” replied Henderson.

Perhaps this shouldn’t be too surprising - developers can, and often do, work on more than one game at a time - it’s not like they’re ever permanently tied down to just one. However, last month, a different leaker suggested that GTA VI would be the only game that Rockstar will release this generation, so that’s probably where fans' concerns about Bully 2’s fate have come from.

Obviously, all leaks should be taken with a pinch of salt - one of these games has been given the official word, and the other hasn’t. That said, though, Henderson has been known to get plenty of things right in the past, so as far as leaks go, this one should be (in theory) relatively reliable. We’ll just have to see how things play out.
