Fans Spot Iconic Map In 'Modern Warfare II' Trailer, Possible 'Warzone 2' Tease

Eagle-eyed Call of Duty fans have spotted something sneaky in one of the Modern Warfare II trailers, which teases the return of Highrise.

If you’re a Call of Duty fan who’s been living under a rock the last 48 hours you’ve probably missed the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II reveal. In recent days we’ve been treated to two trailers showing off the game, featuring plenty of first person action for fans to feast their eyes on.

However, eagle-eyed gamers have spotted something very sneaky in one of the trailers released by Activision. On Wednesday 8th June the worldwide reveal trailer dropped, which was our first glimpse of the game in action. In the opening seconds of the trailer - in what looks like a generic building shot to many - we get our first glimpse at the iconic MW2 map Highrise, and potentially Warzone 2.0.

If you haven’t seen the reveal trailer yet, or would like to spot Highrise for yourself you can watch the trailer here:

Did you manage to find it? Blink and you’ll miss it. If you played 2009’s Modern Warfare 2 you’ll instantly recognise this locale, and there’s no denying its Highrise. However there’s a few differences which suggests it could be more than just a returning multiplayer map. The original Highrise map featured a large yellow crane, which back then was the birthplace to some of the nuttiest trickshots in Call of Duty history. However, in this image that crane cannot be seen, which suggests this could be a glimpse at Warzone 2.0’s map from above.

Another difference is the missing helicopter on the helipad, and whilst the helipad still exists in the teaser image, the helicopter itself doesn’t, which suggests it could be empty so players can land there with Warzone 2.0’s aircraft.

This wouldn’t be the first time that a Warzone teaser has snuck its way into a Call of Duty trailer. Back in May 2019 during Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s reveal trailer a snippet of footage showing soldiers leaping from an aircraft was later revealed to be Warzone, which was revealed just under a year after that in 2020. With that in mind, and with Warzone 2.0 tipped for a 2022 release, it really doesn’t surprise me that Infinity Ward has snuck something like this in for the OG MW2 fans.

There’s still so much Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II info to be released, and now that the gameplay reveal has taken place, the announcements will hopefully be coming thick and fast this summer, in the run up to the beta and full release on October 28th. Until then, stay frosty.
