It is a sad day for Grand Theft Auto V fans on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as Rockstar finally released an update that will remove one important feature from the game.

Earlier this year, Rockstar announced that it would be removing the Rockstar Editor from Grand Theft Auto V for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One users and now that time has finally come as of 20 February. The arrival of version 1.006.002 means that certain players will no longer be able to record, edit, and upload their videos.

In good news, the studio recommended that linking their Rockstar Games account to their YouTube account will be a way to store their videos in the future. Additionally, the Rockstar Editor will still be accessible for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC users.

The reason behind this update, which also included bug fixes and new features for voice chat moderation and more, was to allow the Rockstar team to turn its attention to better focus on future updates for both systems. We can also assume this means that more time can be spent on the upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI.

With the Grand Theft Auto V community still going strong, it is no surprise that many players are sad to see an important feature leave. One fan took to r/gtaonline to lament about their time spent using it and called 20 February a “sad day”.

“Today is the day GTA Online on PS4 dies for me and thousands of other hardcore players,” they wrote. “This is for those who created stories for their GTA characters. Who participated in online races, car meet or stunt challenges and did aftermovies. This is for recreational photographers who use GTA Online as a way of self expression.”

“Thanks to everyone who has contributed with awesome PS4 content over the years and trust me, as someone with 107k screenshots I feel your pain. Just finished up the final screenshots and a goodbye video for friends. If I can't enjoy creating stories with my friends, I can find better online experiences to play. Enjoy the remainder of your GTA Online time and just remember what happened on this day will one day happen to you.”
