GTA VI’s teaser has a hidden reference to Michael from GTA V, giving us an idea as to what he’ll be up to during the next game.

The Grand Theft Auto series isn’t one for interconnected storylines but it does happen every now and then as every game is set in the same world.

GTA V had a few references to GTA IV here and there such as Johnny Klebitz appearing during Trevor’s first cutscene, and Patrick McReary as one of the hired helpers for the game’s heists. There’s even some dialogue reference the bank robbery you do in GTA IV.

With characters popping up and being referenced like that, the trio from GTA V are bound to get the same treatment in GTA VI, and eagle-eyed fans have already found one.

During the game’s trailer a shelf of films can be seen in the background to one of the scenes, and you can faintly make out one of Michael’s films, Meltdown. The same text and overall shape of the cover can be made out so it’s definitely the same film.

Maybe this is Rockstar Games just reusing assets for the developer’s reputation for detail suggests otherwise.

This doesn’t mean Michael will be featured as part of the story but given how he loves a warm climate perhaps he’ll cameo in one of the game’s side missions, maybe on vacation with his family. Another possibility is him appearing through the in-game TV channels or social media, after all he is a film director.

Michael was always my favourite character out of the three you play as in GTA V so I’m hoping this is the case, but I’m not going to be heartbroken if it’s not.

Many Grand Theft Auto fans are probably hoping Trevor or Franklin appear in GTA VI as well, and while I don’t think Franklin will leave Los Santos I do think there’s a good chance we’ll bump into Trevor at some point. Even Trevor’s actor Steven Ogg has said he’d like Trevor to appear in the story and get killed off, which seems like just the kind of bold move Rockstar would pull.

Honestly who knows, but I’m sure we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled when the game drops next year for whatever secrets or Easter eggs Rockstar Games includes in the story and side content.
