GTA 6 trailer 2 teaser has broken fans

History is repeating itself

It’s Monday 4 November which, you may not have realised, is a somewhat significant day for Grand Theft Auto fans.

Why? Well, we’re exactly one month away from the one-year anniversary of GTA VI’s very first trailer.

It was on 4 December 2023 that Rockstar Games finally lifted the lid on the highly anticipated game.

And here we are, 12 months on, having received precisely nothing else in the way of a tease.

Could Rockstar Games drop something next month to mark the anniversary of the game’s reveal?

It’s certainly possible. The Game Awards are coming up in early December too, but it’s far more likely that Rockstar Games will drop an update - whether that be a trailer, gameplay, or a selection of screenshots - on its own terms.

As it happens though, we may not need to speculate about what’s coming as eagle-eyed fans have spotted what they believe is a major teaser ahead of an imminent new reveal.

Take a look at the original trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI below.

Let me establish some context first.

In November of 2023, Rockstar dropped a new promotional image of GTA Online with fans drawn to the particular phase of the moon featured - a Waning Gibbous.

When the image was released, the next Waning Gibbous was, in real life, to appear on 1 December.

Do you recall what else happened on 1 December? Rockstar Games took to Twitter to confirm that GTA VI’s trailer would be debuting several days later.

Well, history is repeating itself.

A fresh GTA Online promo image has surfaced on Rockstar Games’ Twitter and, as spotted by Reddit user Fabrizerlo, it features yet another Waning Gibbous.

Coincidence? Perhaps, but perhaps not.

The next real life Waning Gibbous moon is set to land on 22 December, so the going theory is that this is when Rockstar will drop its next reveal, or at least confirm when the next reveal is coming.

As you can imagine, fans are the complete opposite of calm.

“Ok, I'm actually believing this one especially cuz the moon is abnormally large in both pics,” wrote iSvad.

“That's impressive, not gonna lie,” added No-Sandwich-2997.

I’d class those as reasonable responses, but there are plenty of outlandish follow-up theories dotted all over the /GTA6 subreddit.

“Rotating the image 180 degrees makes the lights between the shadows look like VI,” shared Available_Banana_467.

“The wires on the moon indicate VI in both normal and upside down versions, and Jason’s pose is so similar to the other guy that it’s hard to just ignore,” theorised hosseinhx77.

Let’s all keep our fingers crossed. It would be a lovely Christmas present.
