Grand Theft Auto VI may still be a few months away from its apparent release but in the meantime, this brand-new title - which has been compared to the hit Rockstar series - is keeping fans entertained.

Though perhaps for all the wrong reasons.

Check out the story trailer for Mindseye below!

With its many comparisons to Grand Theft Auto VI, MindsEye is an upcoming narrative-driven, single-player action-adventure thriller by developer Build a Rocket Boy.

Set to be released on 10 June, 2025, MindsEye is set in the near-future in the fictional desert town of Redrock and much like Grand Theft Auto, it will feature “best-in-class cinematics, high octane driving, and explosive combat”.

Since it was first revealed at Gamescom 2022 by ex-Rockstar dev Leslie Benzies, MindsEye has been compared to Grand Theft Auto and by looking at one of its many trailers, it is not hard to understand why.

With explosive car chases, high-octane shooting and a narrative adventure which hopes to keep players enthralled, this upcoming title will be the perfect thing to keep us busy until GTA VI launches later in the year.

However, earlier this week saw Build a Rocket Boy release our first look at the gameplay that can be found in MindsEye ahead of its full trailer coming soon and it is safe to say that viewers are less than impressed.

The 30-second clip that was posted on the Everywhere NET Twitter account soon garnered some attention but perhaps not the attention devs had planned on.

“This lowkey looks like a fake game that Jimmy would be playing in his room in GTA 5,” user Synth Potato commented.

User GameRoll shared the sentiment, adding, “They really said no recoil ... Mafia 3 gameplay but somehow worse, I don’t like this lol.”

However, user Only Official was feeling slightly more optimistic.

“A little rough around the edges but .. not bad,” they wrote. "Need to see something more exciting though.”

However, with just two months to go until MindsEye launches, it seems as though it will have to prove itself a bit more if it wants a successful release day.
