Some fans are speculating that Grand Theft Auto VI information could only be weeks away, and it’s all tied to the release date of GTA V.

Grand Theft Auto fans are still hard-pressed for official details on Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto VI. With no new leads on when new information, a trailer, or the game itself could be released, aside from several ‘leaks’ and rumours, it’s unclear what exactly the future holds for the highly-anticipated GTA V follow-up.

However, some fans are beginning to speculate that official information from Rockstar themselves could only be weeks away, and it’s all tied to the release date of Grand Theft Auto V.

It’s almost been an entire decade since GTA V was released on last-gen consoles, with the official 10-year anniversary being later this year on the 17th of September. Given how GTA VI is set to replace its predecessor with not just a new story mode, but a new GTA Online, it only seems right that they’d announce the next step of their series on the previous game’s big day.

Like basically every Grand Theft Auto leak, rumour and theory, take this with a very hefty handful of salt, but it isn’t entirely unbelievable when you look at the history of Rockstar’s games…Best put on your tinfoil hats for this one…

Red Dead Redemption 2 was officially teased by Rockstar on the 16th of October 2016, before being officially unveiled to the public a few days later. The 16th of October landed on a Sunday, and the 17th of September 2023 will also land on a Sunday.

Given that it already ties in with the 10th anniversary of GTA V, there is a very slight chance that we’ll hear something about the next major game in the series.

Another thing going for this theory is that Rockstar always announces their new games and projects through their own channels, never during big events like E3 (Not that it’s happening this year anyway) The Game Awards and other big gaming events so none of those need to be considered.

Safe to say that fans are getting desperate now, and the radio silence from Rockstar isn’t helping. Until something official pops up, fans will just have to wait and pray for whatever they can get.
