It is perhaps common knowledge that Grand Theft Auto VI is expected to be one of the biggest games of all time.

However, what we didn’t expect was exactly how much it has taken to create the highly-anticipated Rockstar sequel.

Check out the first official trailer for GTA VI below!

Set to finally release in 2025, Grand Theft Auto VI is the long-awaited sequel to 2013’s Grand Theft Auto VI.

After over a ten-year hiatus, Rockstar Games is back with the open-world action-adventure title and it is safe to say that fans are eagerly anticipating its release.

With the sixth instalment taking us back to Vice City and surrounding areas and introducing us to brand-new protagonists Jason and Lucia, it is set to be another epic adventure.

So epic in fact that it has been reported that GTA VI has cost approximately $2 billion to make.

If this is true, it is the most expensive video game ever made.

This news comes from the infamous Rockstar hacker who released over 90 clips of GTA VI and its source code and posted them online back in 2022.

Although the $2 billion figure has never been confirmed by Rockstar or publisher Take-Two, it would make sense considering the scope of the sequel.

In comparison, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 had one of the biggest budgets in recent years and was estimated to cost around $300m to make.

However, GTA V which was released over ten years ago, reportedly cost eight times less than the estimated $2 billion for its sequel.

Although we have only seen one official trailer for GTA VI, we can already tell it is going to push the boundaries of gaming both with its story and performance.

Needless to say, it may never be confirmed how much the ambitious title cost to make but whatever it is, let us hope it was worth it.
