GTA 6 price defended by people who can actually afford it

Would you pay this much?

With rumours that GTA 6 could cost $100, fans are now debating whether the cost is fair, with some defending the alleged pricing.

GTA 6 has been hotly anticipated for years, and there remains the question of whether Rockstar is going to float above the standard $70 price tag or not.

Many seem to agree that charging $100 for GTA 6 seems ludicrous, especially considering how much money Rockstar made from GTA Online alone.

However, there’s also a large portion of the community who are defending the alleged cost.

Here's everything we know about GTA 6 so far.

Streamer xQc weighed in on the debate, quoting a post on X (formerly Twitter) regarding the pricing.

“Gamers will buy 5 early access, half baked $140 games and sprinkle $300 worth of skins in a year,” the streamer wrote.

“But when a AAA company goes all out and take their time to make the most anticipated polished product we know they can make, suddenly $100 is too much? Stop talking.”

As one of the biggest streamers in the world right now, xQc can obviously afford GTA 6 even if it launched at $100. Some of his fans, however, also defended the pricing.

“GTA 6 will be one of few games worth the $100 price tag,” wrote one reply. “Everyone knows this, studios included.”

Another user wrote: “Rockstar Games has given us so many amazing titles, to think $100 is overpriced is funny.”

“100$ is fair ONLY for GTA 6, legit,” wrote another. “I don't think there is any other game in the industry that would be worth so much money and had so much money put into its production.”

Other users disagreed though, with one person highlighting that it could start an uncomfortable industry trend for low income gamers.

“I don’t think you can really have an opinion on this when you’re a multi millionaire,” they wrote. “It’ll be an issue for lower income people who struggle to even afford AAA games at their current price. It only takes one game at a higher price for the industry to follow.”

Rockstar has yet to announce a release date or price for GTA 6. It’s expected to launch some time in 2025, so we should know more as the year goes on.
