The eventual release of Grand Theft Auto VI means that a brand-new GTA Online will be arriving too.

With GTA Online still dominating the gaming sphere even after ten years, it is no surprise that Rockstar Games is putting equal effort into its next iteration.

Set to launch alongside Grand Theft Auto VI in fall 2025, a recent leak has revealed that GTA VI Online will include extensive mod tools which will see the online mode become playable for a very long time.

The rumours first began when it was announced that Rockstar had recruited the team behind popular mod, FiveM after originally attempting to develop its own similar project.

However, it appears that the two teams will now be working together with GTA 6 Online set to “significantly involve user-generated content through new Rockstar’s online proprietary modding tools.”

Not only that but, according to well-known Rockstar leaker Tez2, the studio is also working on a mission creator.

“Rockstar is seemingly working on a public version of the Mission Creator,” they shared on Twitter.

This new script was added with the Bottom Dollar Bounties update, but is currently empty.”

According to GTAFocal, the Mission Creator will be integrated into GTA Online ready for fall 2024.

Perhaps this is a way to try it out before bringing it to GTA VI in a year’s time.

“The possibility of bringing it to consoles will also serve as a way to keep the game alive once updates slow down and GTA 6 arrives,” the report reads.

It is evident that Rockstar has plans to officially bring RP to Grand Theft Auto’s online mode after creators have been doing it for years.

So much so that the RP community for GTA Online has single-handedly carried the game alongside the official content updates.

It remains to be seen how these features will be officially added but it is an exciting time for fans of both Grand Theft Auto and its online accompaniment.
