In a shocking turn of events, Rockstar has suddenly remembered that not only do women exist but they can also have jobs these days and it seems as though that discovery has led to a brand-new feature in Grand Theft Auto VI.

Since the Grand Theft Auto franchise kicked off way back in 1997, it is safe to say that women have played quite a minor role in the Rockstar crime saga.

After all, Lucia is set to be the first “proper” female protagonist in the Grand Theft Auto series and it has taken us until 2026 to get there.

That being said, it seems as though Grand Theft Auto VI’s Vice City will be home to all manner of diverse characters with many of which being women.

This was made evident thanks to the first and second official trailers for the highly-anticipated game which showed Lucia and secondary characters such as Bae-Luxe and Roxy aka rappers Real Dimez make regular appearances.

However, it seems as though female characters will also play a large role in a major GTA VI feature: the police.

Spotted in the second teaser trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI, Jason can be seen cruising through the streets of Vice City before coming across a bunch of cops pulling over an individual.

Upon closer inspection, it seems as though at least one of the police officers is a woman.

Now you may be thinking why this constitutes news but it is worth considering that female police officers in the Grand Theft Auto franchise are pretty rare so this could mean that GTA VI will finally push the boundaries of gender.

As you can imagine, the screenshot being posted on Twitter caused quite a lot of unsavoury comments but there were some normal fans who were eager to share their thoughts.

“As there should be?” One user commented and I wholeheartedly agree.

“Progress,” another fan said simply.

It is exciting to see the Grand Theft Auto franchise finally get with the times and, I don’t know about you, but it is making me even more excited for Grand Theft Auto VI’s grand release on 26 May 2026.
