GTA 6 leaked file size intensifies hype: 'I can't wait'

Huge file size = huge game

GTA VI is going to be the biggest game Rockstar has released so far, so as you’d expect, the space you’ll need on your hard drive will be mega.

Usually I roll my eyes at the space required to install modern games, like when Call Of Duty titles want 100 GB of space for no discernible reason, but I think with GTA VI, it will at least make sense.

It’s an open-world game, after all, and looking at all of this, it’d be no surprise to see it requires a big chunk of your console storage.

While we don’t know for sure how many games we’ll need to uninstall to make room for GTA VI, fans have some ideas.

This comes from the game's prior major 2022 leak, which showed off raw gameplay and exposed some of the features and events coming to the new open-world.

“I analysed [the] leaks in the highest detail again. Here's more stuff I found,” read a comprehensive Reddit post by Denso95, who went on to say, “The file size of the dev build was possibly around 80 GB big. My very personal guess is, we can expect just under 200 GB as the final file size because dev builds often only have specific features active which are currently needed.”

As far as guesses go, it sounds plausible as GTA V was over 70 GB and Red Dead Redemption 2 was 120GB since it was much more advanced. With that in mind GTA VI being 200 GB just makes sense.

It’s bound to be worth it though, right? We’re going to be playing GTA VI for ages when it comes out and scouring its open-world for every minor detail, so reserving a massive amount of hard drive space seems perfectly reasonable.

Besides, if you still want to easily access some of your other most-played chonky games, you can always get a cheap hard drive online, or an SSD expansion if you’re on Xbox.
