Despite Rockstar’s parent company, Take-Two Interactive, confirming that GTA VI is still on track for a fall 2025 release, the absence of a second trailer has made some fans start to worry.

However, a recent announcement shared across social media has eased some of those worries, even if it’s not from a place you would expect.

Let’s rewind a little first.

It has been well over a year since Rockstar Games released the first official trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI which, of course, has led some fans to worry that a delay was inevitable.

Luckily, Take-Two confirmed that a fall 2025 release was still on track earlier this year and despite the second official trailer still hiding from us, fans were left feeling placated.

Now another announcement from a different source is spelling good news for Grand Theft Auto VI’s release and it comes from Borderland 4’s development chief Randy Pitchford.

In a video posted to social media earlier this week, Pitchford revealed that the release date for Borderlands 4 would be moving up to 12 September from the previous 23 September.

“Everything’s going kinda the best case scenario. The game is awesome, the team is cooking and so the launch date for Borderlands 4 is changing. This never happens, you guys! This never happens! We’re moving the launch date forward!” he announced.

But what has this got to do with GTA VI?

Well, the Borderlands series just so happens to also be published by Take-Two Interactive and it would not be lucrative for the company to release two huge titles so close to each other.

As a result, many fans believe that this change in the schedule could hint at our release window for GTA VI.

More specifically, Borderlands 4 will be released earlier so that more people have time to play it ahead of GTA VI’s release a few weeks later. Could this mean that the next Grand Theft Auto title could arrive in late October/early November?

It remains to be seen but it is exciting news nonetheless.
