GTA 6 players can nab a free Ultimate Edition upgrade with this limited-time deal

While Rockstar Games hasn’t revealed just how many Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders have been placed, the number is expected to be in the millions.

If you’re yet to get your hands on the title though and happen to be based in the US, you’ve probably made the right call.

That’s because you can currently secure a 20% discount on pre-orders of GTA VI using a handy little trick highlighted by Reddit user Particular-Tear4308.

They shared that $100 gift cards for PlayStation are currently on offer at Costco for just $79.99.

You’ll want to pick up said $100 gift card and pre-order GTA VI: Ultimate Edition on PlayStation 5, which usually retails for $99.99.

You’ll only have parted with $79.99 of your own money though, so you’ll have secured a 20% discount on the Ultimate Edition, essentially nabbing a free upgrade as $79.99 is the RRP of the base edition.

The Costco deal on this gift card is expected to run until October 11 - unless you lot cause the offer to sell out, flocking to Costco all at once.

You can emulate this ‘hack’ though via any retailer, in any territory - for both PlayStation and Xbox.

Just shop around for gift cards and you should be able to find some at a discount.

In the UK, for example, you can currently secure a 10% discount on £100 PlayStation Store gift cards at Loaded or 7% off a £90 Xbox gift card.

This method is perhaps going to be the only way to secure a discount on GTA VI for quite some time; with how well the game is selling, Rockstar Games is unlikely to drop the price.

Understandably, gamers are thankful to Reddit user Particular-Tear4308 for originally highlighting the deal.

“An actual useful post wtf,” Dangerous-Writer-565 replied.

“Legendary. This is exactly why I haven’t yet,” added thelastriot.

User Anxious-Gas-7376 said, “Damn, I was waiting to pre-order once we could pre-load…guess I’m buying right now.”
