GTA 5 is getting zombie apocalypse DLC in time for Halloween

Could this be the last Halloween update for GTA 5 Online?

Although Rockstar has come under fire in recent months for removing fan-favourite modes from GTA Online, it seems like it is in its redemption arc with the upcoming release of an epic mission.

It may have been a long time ago, over a decade to be exact, but fans of Grand Theft Auto V may remember the very first mission of the game.

Look to the future with the first official trailer for GTA VI below!

It took place in North Yankton and saw Michael, Trevor and co rob a cash depot before embarking on a police chase which resulted in Michael’s “death”.

The area is later returned to in the mission Bury the Hatchet, but other than that, it remained an under-utilised part of the map in Grand Theft Auto V.

However, it is set to make a return just in time for Halloween according to a recent blog post by Rockstar.

Although the mode was only hinted at by the studio, data miners have uncovered exactly what the update will feature before it releases some time in October.

As for Rockstar, it says for players to be on the lookout for “all kinds of surprises” throughout the month.

The new survival mode will take place in North Yankton’s Ludendorff Cemetery and will see players take on waves of zombies.

Other than that, we don’t know too much about the mode but we can expect to use a variety of weapons to cull the horde and we can maybe expect the standard release of new cosmetics and more.

However, with Grand Theft Auto VI finally set to release in just one year’s time, this could perhaps be the last Halloween update we ever receive for GTA V.

Nevertheless, it has been a long and incredibly successful run for both GTA V and GTA Online, with the latter’s RP communities as popular now as they ever were.

It remains to be seen what the future of Grand Theft Auto will look like but there is no denying that this is the start of a whole new journey.
