Another Video Game Movie Is In Development At PlayStation, Says Report

Another Video Game Movie Is In Development At PlayStation, Says Report

According to a new report, a movie adaptation of the 2012 action-adventure Gravity Rush is in the works.

Just when you thought that there were already more than enough PlayStation movie and TV adaptations in the works, apparently, we might be getting another. And no, I’m not on about the Days Gone film (which is going to be a thing, supposedly).

Take a look at the story trailer for Days Gone below.

According to Deadline, a Gravity Rush movie is happening. In case you were unfamiliar, the 2012 action-adventure Vita title (which later came to PS4) followed the exploits of Kat - an amnesiac girl with the ability to manipulate gravity, who must help the people of Hekseville and uncover her past. A sequel also released in 2017, but nothing else since.

Reportedly, Anna Mastro (Secret Society of Second Born Royals) will be directing, and Emily Jerome (Panopticon) will be writing the script. The film is apparently being developed by Scott Free Productions and PlayStation Productions, although it’s not currently known who it’ll be distributed by.

The report also makes no mention of any casting choices, so that all remains a mystery for now. Speaking of which, the Days Gone devs really aren’t too happy with the supposed casting choice for that film adaptation. It’s claimed that Outlander’s Sam Heughan will be taking on the role of protag Deacon St. John, but directors John Garvin and Jeff Ross have expressed in no uncertain terms that they’d prefer someone else - Deacon’s original voice and motion capture actor, Sam Witwer, to be exact.

For now, the existence of the Gravity Rush and Days Gone movies haven’t been made official, though, so we’ll have to hang on for that confirmation before getting too excited.
