'WandaVision' Definitely Isn't Getting A Second Season, Says Director

A good TV show knows when it's time to end. Breaking Bad told a perfectly paced story over its five seasons. Similarly, The Wire didn't waste a single one of its 60 episodes, and went out on its own terms.

It's rare these days, but a few shows know when they're better suited to being one, self-contained season. Fortunately, it looks like Marvel and Disney know that WandaVision is one of those shows.

Take a look at Wanda in Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness below!

I'd easily rank WandaVision among my favourite Disney Plus outings. It's weird, gripping, and completely unlike anything we'd previously seen from the MCU. The immensely talented Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany were given the chance to further flesh out two of the more sidelined Avengers in a heartbreaking story about grief and loss that did everything it needed to do in the course of its 9 episodes.

As tempting as it may be to ask for more, Marvel and Disney seem aware that a second season of WandaVision just isn't a good idea. Speaking to GamesRadar, Moon Knight director Mohamed Diab discussed the process of MCU movies vs MCU shows when he touched on the future of WandaVision.

"I dream and wish for a film," Diab said of potential future MCU projects. "But with Marvel, the way they play it, it's not like you graduate into a film. You can go into a film and come to a TV show and go back. It's like a crazy world. Even with the successful shows, like WandaVision, they're not doing season two. She jumped into a film, maybe she's going to come back or not. I don't know. And that's exciting."

This isn't the first time hopes for a second season of WandaVision have been dashed. Last year Elizabeth Olsen told fans that it was "definitely" a limited series, rather than one that would continue past episode 9. Ah well.

Of course, that doesn't mean we've seen the last of Wanda and Vision. While we have no idea where the newly revived Vision will pop up next, we do know that Wanda will be heading into the multiverse with Doctor Strange later this year - and I've got a feeling this is just the beginning of a whole new arc for the character.
