Scooby Doo X Courage The Cowardly Dog Crossover Trailer Hits Right In The Childhood

Warner Bros. Animation has announced an absolutely amazing crossover with Scooby Doo and the mystery-solving squad and honestly, we're surprised these two universes haven't merged before.

Yes, it's Courage the Cowardly Dog. Given that the character is constantly defending his home from unknowable creatures and monsters who have lost their way, it's only sensible to think that the Mystery Machine would find themselves knocking on the door of the Bagges' house sooner or later. Judging by the trailer, it appears that the plot of Straight Outta Nowhere: Scooby Doo Meets Courage the Cowardly Dog follows Scooby Doo's disappearance after he picks up a strange scent.

He bumps into Courage and the two hit it off like long lost brothers, though the conspiracy is only beginning. There's an enormous cicada terrorising the Bagges and she's accompanied by terrifying insects with bright red eyes and dripping glowing mandibles. Ew.

Luckily, Fred, Daphne, Velma and Shaggy arrive with their knack for clues (and snacks) in tow. The cast includes Frank Welker as Scooby-Doo and Fred, Grey Griffin as Daphne, Matthew Lillard as Shaggy and Kate Micucci as Velma, as well as Marty Grabstein as Courage the Cowardly Dog, Jeff Bergman as Eustice Bagge and Thea White as Muriel Bagge.

"[The film] is definitely going to trigger acute nostalgia for those of us who grew up watching both Scooby-Doo and Courage shows, and it will also bring these wonderful characters to a new generation of viewers," said director and producer Cecilia Aranovich (cheers to Syfy Wire for the interview). "Merging the two worlds in a cohesive manner was one of the most challenging aspects of production. But I feel we found the right balance by bringing in the design elements and the color palette from the Courage world, as well as infusing Scooby and the gang with the more over-the-top takes and reactions that are so characteristic of Courage.

Furthermore, the movie will be bundled with three bonus episodes. These are "Decoy for a Dognapper" from Scooby Doo, Where Are You! and "The Gruesome Game of the Gator Ghoul" and "Chiller Diller Movie Thriller" from The Scooby Doo/Dynomutt Hour. "The movie is filled with Easter eggs from the first Courage series, and it is packed with quirky humor, offbeat characters, outlandish action scenes and, of course, the mystery factor that is inherent in every Scooby-Doo! plot," added Aranovich.

The movie will release on digital and DVD on September 14th, just ahead of the spooky season.
