Polish wartime survival game, This War Of Mine, is reportedly going to be added to Polish high school reading lists.
Given the game's mature themes and PEGI 18/ESRB 'M' classification, however, the content will only available for students aged 18 and upwards. As it was never developed to be an educational tool but will now be recommended as course materials for a number of subjects, including ethics, history, and philosophy, it's a significant accomplishment to have such a game added to the curriculum.
"I'm proud to say 11 bit studios' work can add to the development of education and culture in our country," said CEO of developer 11 Bit Studios, Grzegorz Miechowski (thanks, PC Gamer), who said this is the first time a game has become recommended media for Polish schools. "This can be a breakthrough moment for all artists creating games all around the world."
In related Polish news (yes, this is the world's best segue), CD Projekt Red was once again recently forced to delay Cyberpunk 2077, pushing it back from its 17 September release date to 19 November. In a tweet, the studio confirmed it would not "ship something that was not ready", which is why the game was originally delayed from April 2020.
If that seems entirely too long to wait for Keanu Reeves, the actor is donating 15 minutes of his time to the highest bidder for a little "one-on-one time with Keanu" in order to raise funding for Idaho-based children's cancer charity, Camp Rainbow Gold. The auction doesn't close until 22 June, 2020, but bidding has been fast and furious already and the current leading bid is a mind-boggling $75,000 with two days still to go.
