Ubisoft has played its hand when it comes to Prince of Persia. The developers have already let us know that it's doing a remake of the classic Prince of Persia: The Sands of Times that many gamers remember fondly - however, some fans have been impatient and made progress on their own 4K version of the game.

Sanadsk on YouTube has uploaded a video of their own interpretation of what a luscious, 4K, ray-traced version of the Prince and his environment would look like, and my oh my it's beautiful. Gone are the polygonal harem pants of the past, and here are the silky, flowy pants of the future.

Edges are tided up, shadows look nicer, geometry looks clearer, and it's an improvement in just about every way. Sanadsk even cuts back on effects the game used to add more atmosphere, like random speckles of floating light, because in the new version the atmosphere is there. No help needed.

Prince of Persia absolutely inspired the process that led to the Assassin's Creed series. The parkour and historical setting certainly must have given Ubisoft an idea about freerunning across interesting architecture, and since the AC universe has boomed, Ubisoft seemed to have forgotten about the blueprint of the series. Let's not talk about the 2010 film with Jake Gyllenhaal though shall we?

There are those who are currently a little worried about the way Ubisoft is handling the remake. Within Sanadsk's video we can see that there are comparisons between the original game, the fan-made game, and then Ubisoft's footage, and although Ubisoft has reimagined some of the environments in a creative, interesting way - the graphics aren't too clean looking. It's early days yet though, so we'll withhold judgement until the final product is released.

Ubisoft's version will land on January 21, 2020 but we're secretly hoping that one day this fan remake will be coming soon too.
