Tom Welling is already pals with Pattinson, so it makes sense

I think I speak for many when I say I can't wait to see Robert Pattinson's take on Batman. Set for release sometime next year, The Batman - starring the Twilight and Tenet actor - is going to be yet another go at adapting the brooding character of Bruce Wayne (and his alter-ego) for the big screen. Dark, mysterious, and just a little emo, Batman's had many allies to battle both beside and against, one of the most famous being Superman.

We've already had Zack Snyder's Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016, but with the arrival of Pattinson's Batman, there are a couple of questions surrounding who the Caped Crusader will meet in this new outing. We know that Selina Kyle (Catwoman) is appearing, played by Zoe Kravitz; but now one of the most beloved actors to have played Superman has expressed that they'd love to be involved in The Batman's world, too.

Watch the video below to see our first official look at Pattinson's The Batman costume:

Tom Welling took up the role of Superman for the television series Smallville and was the Clark Kent for a long, long time, before Henry Cavill took on the role for cinema. He also happens to be buddies with Robert Pattinson, and in a recent interview he mentioned that he'd love to be the Superman to his Batman, if the opportunity arises.

"I think that would be cool," Welling said to El Mundo Geek de Ernestoneitor, and spotted by CBR. "My buddy Rob Pattinson, he is going to be the new Batman. I would love it. It would be fun to be the Superman that shows up in his movie, just because he is a friend of mine. Yeah, who knows?"

Of course, this doesn't at all indicate that this pairing is going to happen. If a Superman does show up in The Batman, chances are it'll be an all-new actor in the role - Pattinson is new to the DC universe, likewise Zoe Kravitz (unless we're counting The Lego Batman Movie - which we're not). But that doesn't stop us imagining how fun it'd be to see this dynamic in action, and two real-life friends' chemistry play out on screen.
