Resident Evil 4 Player Finishes Game With 0% Accuracy

This is 100% crazy.

Speedruns are a delicate business. Most streamers and pros opt to finish a game using mind bending techniques and strategies, honed to perfect in an attempt to best a game in ways players or developers nary dreamt were possible. It's serious business to those who dedicate hours of their time to shaving seconds off a run or finding new ways to beat a game. Of course, sometimes you just gotta have a little fun with what you're doing too, and really try something bonkers.

That's where bonkers gamer Manekimoney steps in. The redditor posted an impressive (and baffling) 0% accuracy completion run of Resident Evil 4 to the Resident Evil subreddit. At first, this seems pretty much impossible, but Manekimoney found a clever workaround to kill enemies without affecting their accuracy rating, and through what I can assume was painful trial and error punishment, managed to complete the game.

There are a few weapons (as reported by Kotaku) in Resident Evil 4 that can be used to accomplish the goal. Knives, rocket launchers, the mine launcher and basically anything that deals area-of-effect damage can be used to take out enemies, but that's easier said than done.

Certain sections of the game require a more thoughtful approach to enemy suppression, like the frequent and tedious escort missions with Ashley. You can see in the image above that Manekimoney died 71 times during the course of the run, and I can only imagine and sympathise for the amount of times they likely had to listen to the bratty President's daughter scream for help.

What's more impressive is that the challenge requires a serious amount of planning around the actual damage percent goal. For example, pistol ammo must be stocked up to make sure enemies don't drop it in favour of something more useful, and other types of ammo need to be protected like the Great Barrier Reef otherwise, you could get stuck in a section that needs them, effectively leading to a failed run.

Sadly it doesn't look like Manekimoney has uploaded a full playthrough of their run anywhere, but at 13 hours long it's a good size longer than most Resident Evil 4 playthroughs. Saying that, I'd gladly watch somebody attempt to tackle beloved games in more interesting ways any day of the week. A run of Silent Hill 2 where I don't cry for hours on end before, during and after playing, anybody? Not sure that's actually possible though.

If you've got a speedrun you're burning to show people, drop us a line on Facebook or Twitter as we'd love to hear about it.
