A new leak that's been doing the rounds suggests that Call Of Duty's classic Zombies mode is set to go big - much bigger than it's ever gone before.

Twitter user and industry insider Okami, who has proven to be a reliable source of video game information and predictions in the past, has claimed that Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War developer Treyarch is working on a brand-new Zombies mode called Outbreak. This mode, Okami claims, will offer "Treyarch-style co-op Zombies on a large-scale Fireteam map." Perhaps most excitingly, Okami says they've heard the mode described as "open-world Zombies".

It's unclear what exactly "open-world Zombies" might mean, but the most likely scenario is a much, much larger map with objectives that can be freely tackled. While Zombies have previously appeared in battle royale modes like Warzone and Blackout, this would be the first time that Activision put together an "open-world" specifically for Zombies gameplay.

Both Activision and Treyarch have, so far, remained silent on the existence of Outbreak, so be sure to take this with a pinch of salt for now. However, we do know that Treyarch intends to continue supporting Black Ops Cold War for months to come with new content, including new modes, weapons, and Zombies map - all for free.

Most recently Treyarch introduced an incredibly popular new map to the shooter called Firebase Z. This new area has already won acclaim from fans for its decision to focus on new tricks, gimmicks, and boss battles that make it stand apart from the Die Maschine Zombies map that was included at launch. If Treyarch's intention is to make each subsequent Zombies map feel truly unique, a large scale open-world area filled with undead would certainly do the trick.
