With Resident Evil 3 Remake mere weeks away at this point, Capcom have been discussing why they felt the game's main protagonist and butt-kicker Jill Valentine was ready for a redesign.
Talking in the latest issue of Edge Magazine (via Gamesradar) Resi 3 producer Peter Fabiano has been lifting the lid on some of the behind-the-scenes secrets and decisions taken in the process of getting the hotly anticipated game in front of audiences.
"When we approached Jill, if you look at the original we had to do what we needed to make her stand out" Fabiano continues "but with this game, everything is on a photorealistic level; it's more of a believable atmosphere we're trying to create. We want to have a Jill that fit in that, but still stayed true to her original personality and essence. And that's really how we came about the new Jill."

Jill has always been one of Resident Evil's most iconic and empowered heroes, so it's great to see - from a fan's perspective - that Capcom are keen to bring her unique and beloved personality through in the latest iteration of the game.
Capcom recently released a deluge of new concept art that gave us a glimpse at some of the places we can expect to visit in Raccoon City, as well as a closer look at some of those character redesigns.
Our very own Will McCue had the opportunity to attend a recent hands-on event with Resident Evil 3 down in London, where he played around 2 hours of the game ahead of its full release on April 3rd.

In similar Resi news, Nemesis has also had a redesign for the new game, giving him a grizzled new face which includes a weirdly adorable little button nose. Not sure that was Capcom's intention but, I'll take him over the stony-faced Mr. X any day of the week.
