'Call Of Duty: Warzone' Leaker Says The End Of Verdansk Is Coming Next Month

In March it will have been one year since Activision launched Call Of Duty: Warzone. Given that 2020 was The Year Time Moved Differently, I'm having a hard time coming to terms with that. As one of my main lockdown games of choice, Warzone kind of feels like it's been out for years. But nope, at the time of writing, a mere 11 months. Brb, just gonna go scream into my pillow.

Okay I'm back. So you might be wondering how Activision plans to celebrate the first anniversary of the battle royale. We can assume there'll be some kind of major update or event, right? Zombies have already made their way to the game, of course, so what else could we see? How about a massive nuke that completely wipes away Verdansk and opens the door for a new or drastically overhauled map? That's one way to mark a Birthday.
I know what you're thinking. Rumours of a nuclear weapon completely destroying Verdansk as we know it have been around for almost as long as the game. Every hidden bunker and Easter egg seemed to point at a cataclysmic explosion of some sort... but it never actually happened. Now, as we approach the end of Warzone's first year, Call Of Duty leaker claims that the "end' of Verdansk as we know it is set for March 11. Mark your calendars.
Black Ops Cold War Newz has proven a reliable source of Call Of Duty info before, and the dates certainly seem to line up. As they note, the ongoing zombie-themed event comes to an end on March 10, one full year after Warzone first released. It'd make sense for Activision to wrap up the game's first year one day later with a mighty explosion for one reason or another.
Maybe Verdansk is overrun by zombies and it's the only way? Maybe somebody accidentally leans on the big red button, I don't know. What I do know is that if Activision were finally going to blow up Verdansk and kick off a new map, the first anniversary of Warzone would absolutely be the time to do it. Watch this space.
