'Alien' Star And Classic Bond Villain Yaphet Kotto Has Died, Aged 81

Alien star and classic Bond villain Yaphet Kotto has died at 81 years of age. A statement shared to the actor's official Facebook page by his wife, Tessie Sinahon, reveals that the actor passed on Sunday, March 14 from unknown causes.

Kotto will perhaps be best known to sci-fi fans and film buffs everywhere as technician Dennis Parker in Ridley Scott's 1979 classic Alien. He also portrayed the villainous Mr. Big in Roger Moore's first Bond film, Live And Let Die, and would go on to appear in a number of critically acclaimed TV series and films, including Homicide: Life on the Street and The Running Man.

"I'm saddened and still in shocked of the passing of my husband Yaphet of 24 years. He died last night around 10:30pm Philippine time," Sinahon wrote of her husband. "You played a villain on some of your movies but for me you're a real hero and to a lot of people also. A good man, a good father, a good husband and a decent human being, very rare to find. One of the best actor in Hollywood a Legend. Rest in Peace Honey, I'm gonna miss you everyday, my bestfriend, my rock."

Tributes from fans have already started to pour in, with many praising his career and presence in so many pivotal genre movies and shows.

Kotto is survived by his wife and six children.
