Fallout's Latest Delay Upsets Gamers, Bethesda Called Out

Once again, console players are being left out in the cold this Christmas

A brand new update for Fallout 4 just dropped on all platforms, which you would assume is cause for celebration.

If you’re playing the game on PC/Steam, it is! If you’re playing on consoles, however, then I have some bad news for you.

Earlier this week, Bethesda released the latest “December update” for Fallout 4, which included a bunch of bug fixes and general quality of life changes, such as further support for ultrawide monitors and a handful of fixes for Creation Club-related issues.

Unfortunately, fans are less upset about what the update does contain… and more upset about what it doesn’t.

As detailed in a post from Bethesda over on Fallout 4’s Steam page, the December update for the game doesn’t include the previously promised mod storage expansion that Bethesda announced would be coming to both PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

“Your feedback and reports have been greatly appreciated and have helped us sort through a few key pain points for players. It was a goal of ours to launch storage expansion on console this year, knowing it's been one of the top requests from players”, reads the blog post on Steam.

“While the team has made progress, we need a little more time to roll this out for console players and will need to wait until the new year.”

To clarify, this is the second time that Bethesda has pushed this specific fix back, as it was previously announced as part of their second November update for Fallout 4.

Players on consoles have been desperately awaiting this change for quite some time now, which is why players over the r/Fallout4ModsXB1 are understandably upset that it’s been pushed back for a second time.

“I have absolutely ZERO faith in Bethesda games at this point”, commented user Agent-Creed.

“It has been proven time and time again that they can’t fix anything to save their lives and just constantly break MORE stuff in their “updates”... The only saving grace is the show, which I’m really excited for, maybe the Fallout 3 remaster as well whenever that comes out.”

“Look I don’t know s**t about f**k when it comes to how this stuff works but I feel like it can’t be that difficult to just increase the cap on data for mods… please someone prove me wrong cuz this is just frustrating”, replied user benny-bangs.

On the plus side, considering how many new bugs the Anniversary Edition update for Fallout 4 introduced, perhaps we should be thankful that Bethesda is taking its time perfecting the mod expansion update for console players.

But hey, at least the first episode of the Fallout TV show was good, am I right, guys?
