EA Sports FC 27 is free to try as 'Lite' version drops on PS5, PC, and Xbox

EA Sports FC 27 has a free version that you can download and try right now, which is more of a trial than a demo, and we’ll explain the difference between the two.

Electronic Arts has released its latest entry in its ever-popular football series (formerly FIFA) with EA Sports FC 27. And despite the rather expensive Ultimate Edition, you can actually try the latest release before committing to buying it. Kinda like a football loan deal with the option to buy.

The version in question is EA Sports FC 27 Lite, which features a surprising amount of modes. As detailed on the EA website, the modes include:

• Kick-Off: play matches using a limited selection of teams in Classic Match, House Rules, and Rush 3v3.
• Learn to Play: learn the basics and practice your skills.
• Online Friendlies: invite a friend to play online.
• Online Seasons: play 1v1 online matches and compete for promotion through the divisions.

At the time of writing, the playable football teams are:

• Real Madrid (men’s)
• Bayern Munich (men’s)
• Chelsea (women’s)
• OL Lyonnes (women’s)

However, the EA website states that the available teams are a “rotating selection of content”, so there’s a good chance that when you boot up EA Sports FC 27 Lite, the choice of playable teams might be different compared to what’s listed in the article.

Does EA Sports FC 27 Lite progress carry over to the full game?

You’ll be pleased to know that should you decide to purchase the full version of EA Sports FC 27, your progress will carry over. But there are a couple of caveats. Firstly, you must upgrade on the same platform, and secondly, you must have an EA Account linked.

This is the difference between a trial/lite and a traditional demo. In demos, progress typically does not carry over, but that is not often the case with trials or, in this case, EA Sports FC 27 Lite.

Where can you play EA Sports FC 27 Lite?

EA Sports FC 27 Lite is available digitally on PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), PlayStation and Xbox. Sadly, at the time of writing, there is no Nintendo Switch or Switch 2 version.
