It has been quite some time since we entered the world of Dark Souls, and a new comic book from Titan Comics will usher in a new quest for fans.

Officially announced, Dark Souls: Mother of Mourning will set up a new story within the celebrated and beloved universe of Dark Souls.

A partnership between Titan Comics and Fromsoftware will extend the lore of Dark Souls as a group of knights attempts to set out and find the so-called ‘Mother of Lillies.’

It’s believed she can be resurrected and will save the realm, ushering in a time of peace and prosperity.

However, as we all know, it’s not surely going to be that simple, and if the comic is anything like the hit Fromsoftware game, plenty of characters are going to die.

Written by George Mann and illustrated by Maan House, Dark Souls: Mother of Mourning will be a four-part story, beginning its run in December.

Titan Comics describes the comic, saying, “Hope is a fleeting feeling for the Knights of Mourning. But the knightly order are willing to bet everything on their last chance of salvation.”

Along with the synopsis for the new comic, the cover art has been revealed, with work from Bjorn Barends, showing a bloodied knight walking atop a floor of corpses.

Writer George Mann spoke on the new story, noting, “It's always a dark pleasure to return to the world of Dark Souls for another tale, and Mother of Mourning may be my favourite yet.”

He also mentions that between him and Maan House, they intend to “give everyone all the thrills, chills and YOU DIED moments they'd expect from a Dark Souls story.”

With madness plaguing the knights, and the dangers lurking around every corner and in every large, suspiciously empty room, there’s sure to be plenty of action.
