Cyberpunk 2077 is certainly a tale of two halves. I remember the hype drummed up by actor Keanu Reeves at 2019’s E3 as clear as day. Then, of course, the game was ridden with bugs and glitches and that seemed to spell the end of the road, but oh no. There’s the comeback story. Earlier this year, CD Projekt Red released a major patch finally allowing Cyberpunk 2077 to live up to its potential and now, it’s gone on to attain an impressive achievement.
Speaking of Cyberpunk 2077, you should definitely check out Cyberpunk: Edgerunners on Netflix. Watch the trailer below.
At the time of writing, Cyberpunk 2077 has officially overtaken Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II on Steam’s Top Sellers page. We don’t know exact sales figures, but Cyberpunk 2077 is also currently outselling other recent hits like Return To Monkey Island, Elden Ring, and Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered.

Cyberpunk 2077’s newfound success isn’t simply down to this year’s new-gen patch. The player count has skyrocketed following the release of Netflix’s Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime series. At the time of writing last week, we reported an increase of 70,000 players on Steam alone - and that number has since continued to increase.
As reported by The Gamer, Cyberpunk 2077’s quest director responded to the game’s Steam success. Pawel Sasko tweeted, “You mad lads have done it again! I'm so grateful! Wish you an amazing time with Cyberpunk 2077 and Edgerunners.” Cyberpunk 2077’s recent success shouldn’t make us forget about the game’s crunch culture during development, but it’s nice to see the title living up to its potential.
