Crimson Desert has taken the gaming industry by storm over the last few weeks, with many already calling it a Game of the Year contender.

On the flipside there are many gamers out there who aren’t impressed, so it’s led to an interesting debate over whether the game is good or just mimics good games.

One debate that’s been doing the rounds is whether Crimson Desert is the best game of March 2026 or whether Pokemon Pokopia is. Both sides are wrong, there’s actually a secret third option that’s leagues ahead of both titles.

Back to Crimson Desert. A lot of players have been loving the game so far and like what was done with Red Dead Redemption 2 they’ve been sharing every minor detail that makes the game so technically impressive.

Crimson Desert-
Pearl Abyss

One of the most bizarre clips we’ve seen though is one player who found the wildest place to fish in the entire game. That’s how you know a game is a Game of the Year contender by the way, it needs a fishing minigame.

Catch Of The Day

The clip comes from wsrvnar but was shared by TheGameVerse on X, and shows the player fishing in…a desert.

Imagine my shock when I learned Crimson Desert actually does have a desert in it, I thought it was all forests and mountains from the majority of gameplay shown online.

Either way the clip shows them standing in the desert, fishing rod in hand, hurling it out into the sand and actually catching something.

Don’t go charging off into the desert just yet though as there’s even more to this story than you’d think.

Not The Type Of Fish You’d Want From The Chippy

The fish itself is actually a special catch tied to one of the game’s quests. It’s a clockwork fish created by Marni.

Why they decided to make a robotic fish is a whole other barrel of…fish, but it’s here and it’s cool so just enjoy it.

Catching it makes you one of the best anglers in all of Pywel according to its description, so if you’ve already found it nice work, but if you haven’t you’ve still got work to do.

Crimson Desert really is a wonderful game, and it’s got an open-world that gamers are going to be talking about for a long, long time. Too bad the fishing actually kind of sucks.
